Career Programs for grades 11 & 12 students
(Registration in grades 10 - 12)
There are many programs available from the Surrey School District for students who wish to explore career options or develop their skills in a particular area. There are trades programs, dual credit courses (university credit while in high school), a co-op, and work experience, in addition to other opportunities. Students should come to the Career Centre (next to Counselling) and speak to Ms. Wilson (email [email protected]) if they have any interest in these opportunities.
District Partnership Programs (High school + KPU, BCIT, VCC)
The Surrey School District, in partnership with local post-secondary institutes and the Industry Training Authority, offers a wide variety of Partnership Programs. These enable students to begin training in a specific occupation and to save money. The Surrey School District pays the tuition.
Students who participate in a Partnership Program may receive:

Dual Credit Courses
https://www.surreyschools.ca/departments/CAED/dualcreditcourses/Pages/default.aspx
Dual credit courses enable students to receive credit for post-secondary courses, while, at the same time, earning high school credit towards their graduation. Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Douglas College and Nicola Valley Institute of Technology provide Surrey School District students with the opportunity to take post-secondary courses, tuition-free, while they are still in high school. However please note students are responsible for the tuition for the Emily Carr's Headstart in Art course.
Co-op Program
The Culinary Arts Co-Op at Semi is one semester in length, offering 16 credits, where students learn cooking skills taught by a Teaching Chef in order to pursue a career in the Culinary Arts. It also includes two work experience placements in restaurants during the semester, and may lead to apprenticeship.
Work Experience
Students may earn credits (4 credits per course for 90 hours of work done outside of school) for voluntary, structured part-time work in their field of interest.
